I, Kalpana Ravala graduated from the N.T.R University of Health Sciences, India in 2005 with a B.P.T physiotherapy degree. I also graduated from the Master of Science in Medical rehabilitation program at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, 2011.

Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, I worked as graduate Research student treating patients with stroke, head injuries and vestibular disorders using  interactive videogames as a therapy tool.

 Upon graduation I worked as rehabilitation assistant at Victoria General hospital, Where I developed safe patient handling and Communication skills by interacting effectively with patients, families, supervisors, and co-workers and provided exercise rehabilitation programs to variety of patients from paediatrics to geriatrics.

 I Graduated from AIEPBP, (Alberta Internationally Educated Physiotherapist Bridging program) which included regular clinical placements, I understood Canadian health care system, learned about assessing patients, discussing with them about treatment plans, treating with specific physiotherapy methods including exercise therapy techniques and mobilization programs and setting goals for treatment.

My main interest as a clinician is in manual therapy techniques, I am keen about learning new treatment methods to help my patients improve.

My special interests are Geriatric rehabilitation, which includes

  • Helping patients to regain strength, Balance, Mobility, and Independence
  • Orthopedic, Post Stroke, and Parkinson’s Rehabilitation.
  • Fall Recovery.
  • Fall Prevention & Home Safety Assessment.

I am currently pursuing manual therapy training through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and training in women’s health and vestibular Rehabilitation.

My treatment approach incorporates exercise therapy techniques, Manual therapy and patient education along with a personal approach. Keeping client centred care in mind; I work with my patients in setting up clinical goals, assess and reassess patients during treatment on the way to restoration of function, activity and treatment goals achievement.
